We call this the Annex but it really is the main entertaining building on a family compound. We wanted to give this space the exterior look of a New England barn and the interior design of a SoHo loft.
The focal point of this space is the bar! The home owners love to dine and chat at their favorite local bar in Greenwich, CT which they wanted to recreate here. The design of the bar and wine cellar became a design challenge. For inspiration, we researched designs that were impactful with eye catching design. Through this process, we found a wine cellar fabricator in Portland, OR called MADE.
We travelled to Oregon to visit with the owner of MADE and worked with him to design the wine cellar and bar area. We went to the lumber yard to hand select the walnut to use for the shelving for the bar and the hand troughed wine racks. The detail work for this space was coordinated down to the color of the illuminated “Bullseye Glass” used in the bar backdrop to complement the featured Wolf Kahn artwork in the space.
Since we knew how much our clients wanted this space to have the feel of their local bar at home, we brought their favorite bartender up to the house and worked with him to layout and set up the bar.
To design and execute this project, we took into account our clients’ tastes and interests to create a space that met their unique requirements.
